Hamblen County, although one of the smallest counties in Tennessee, is a leader in public safety measures, school systems and commerce. Recreational opportunities abound with numerous golf courses, parks, sporting events and other activities. Cherokee and Douglas Lakes are another major recreational draw to the area.
Hamblen County prides itself in its hometown feel and its strong belief in the preservation of its heritage. Annual events and festivals, many of which are held at Rose Center, help keep the past alive and bring community residents together.
In 1870, Hamblen County was created from parts of Jefferson, Grainger and Hawkins Counties. Hamblen County was named for Hezekiah Hamblen, an early settler, landowner and attorney. The county is bordered by Cherokee Lake on the north and Douglas Lake on the south, and its climate is mild around the year.
